Felix Wilson has composed music since he was 12 years old. He’s always loved the arts in general and has studied classical singing, traditional oil painting and piano for over 10 years. Finishing with a first in Bmus music at University of Sheffield, he sought experience writing music for video games, after an obsession with fantasy RPGs such as Lionhead’s ‘Fable’ series (if you know, you know), ‘Elder Scrolls’ and heartfelt indie hits such as the ‘Far’ series, ‘Spiritfarer’ and – naturally – ‘Journey’.
Recently he’s worked with talented SCAD graduate Xiangyu Wu on his charming puzzler and IGA “24 submission, ‘Shattered Legacy’ (Meow Games). Before that he took part in 2023’s Epic’s MegaJam, in which he wrote relaxing farmyard tunes for ‘Goat Farming at the End of the Universe‘. In Epic Megjam 2022, his team won ‘Best Audio’ from more than 500 entries and 3000+ participants for ‘Below Decks‘, their multiplayer pirate management sim. Prior to this, he composed interactive, ambisonic music for innovative AR/VR producer Aylsha Nelson‘s ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ app, ‘ACROSS’, an endearing story about dealing with your own mortality. Aside from game projects, Felix experiments; developing his thinking with concept albums; releasing whimsical music about gnomes living inside a magical forest, under the project name, ‘The Gnome Universe’ and pushing his sonic limits with ongoing project, ‘Search for the Stars’ – music answering the question, ‘what did downtown L.A. in the 1980’s feel like?’
Felix writes music that enhances the aesthetic of the game, unifies its atmosphere, creates contextual clues through interactivity systems and heightens the emotions. He collects instruments, sings and records himself, and believes music must feel like it’s breathing – as if it’s alive. If it does not make the player feel more invested emotionally, more compelled to play, more enchanted with the story, then it’s missed an opportunity. Listen to his work.
